Salary: £75,000 – £100,000 + Benefits + Bonus = £90,000 – £120,000 package (Depending on experience)
An established technology and consulting organisation is seeking an experienced Operational Technology (OT) Consultant to join its growing Cyber Security and Digital practice. This is an exciting opportunity to work on complex Operational Technology and Industrial Control System (ICS) security projects, helping organisations strengthen the resilience of critical infrastructure and industrial environments.
Working alongside multidisciplinary teams, you will advise clients on securing operational technology environments, managing cyber risk and implementing industry best practice across a range of critical sectors.
Role Overview
As an Operational Technology Consultant, you will support clients in identifying, assessing and mitigating cyber security risks across industrial control systems and operational technology environments. Combining technical expertise with consulting skills, you will work on a wide variety of digital transformation and cyber security projects that improve resilience across critical infrastructure.
This is a client-facing role offering exposure to a broad range of industries, technologies and cyber security challenges.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Assess and improve the security of Operational Technology (OT) and Industrial Control System (ICS) environments.
- Provide cyber security consultancy across operational technology, industrial control systems and critical infrastructure.
- Support clients in identifying security risks and developing practical mitigation strategies.
- Contribute to cyber security architecture, governance and risk management initiatives.
- Work collaboratively within Agile, multidisciplinary delivery teams to solve complex client challenges.
- Provide technical guidance across industrial cyber security projects and digital transformation programmes.
- Engage with stakeholders to deliver secure, resilient operational technology solutions.
- Contribute to internal capability development through knowledge sharing and collaboration.
- Support clients across a variety of critical national infrastructure and industrial sectors.
Skills & Experience Required
The successful candidate will demonstrate experience in:
- Operational Technology (OT) and Industrial Control System (ICS) security.
- Securing industrial control technologies including:
- SCADA
- Distributed Control Systems (DCS)
- Process Control Systems
- PLCs and RTUs
- Industrial data communications
- IoT and Industrial IoT (IIoT)
- OT cyber security risk management, security architecture and security monitoring.
- Working within critical infrastructure environments including:
- Energy generation, transmission and distribution
- Smart energy and metering
- Oil & Gas
- Water
- Civil Nuclear
- Transport (Rail, Aviation, Maritime, Road and Autonomous Systems)
- Wider Critical National Infrastructure (CNI)
- Applying recognised cyber security frameworks and standards including:
- NCSC CAF and NIS Guidance
- ISO 27001 and ISO 27005
- NERC CIP
- ISA/IEC 62443
- NIST Cyber Security Framework (CSF).
Desirable Experience
Experience in any of the following would be advantageous:
- Digital transformation within industrial environments.
- OT security architecture and governance.
- Cyber resilience and operational risk management.
- Cross-functional consulting engagements across complex enterprise environments.
- Client-facing consulting and stakeholder management.
Working Model
- Permanent opportunity.
- Hybrid working with a minimum of two days per week in the office or on client site.
- Depending on project requirements, there may be periods of increased client-site attendance.
